If You're Not Training Champions, You're Only Creating Elitism

Your business is not your ego. That's a hard pill to swallow for a lot of coaches and trainers, especially the ones who train competitive athletes or the ones who were competitive athletes themselves. It's hard to let go of that sense of superiority, because your athletic prowess is visceral. It is instantly attractive to clients, acolytes, and even other coaches.
But at the gym level or in personal training, you are in a business that needs customers, and those customers come in all shapes and sizes.

Everybody Loves to Coach a Star

If you are lucky enough to be at the epicenter of a rich competitive athlete market—which you probably are not—you can be a little choosy about who you train and how you train people. There is nothing better than training a highly motivated person who ends up using your training to win, and go on to bigger and better things. It reflects well on you.
